BLOWDOWN RECEIVERS FOR STEAM PLANT SAFETY
Blowdown is a critical part of maintaining steam boiler water quality, but it must be managed correctly to ensure safety and compliance. A blowdown receiver collects and cools pressurised boiler blowdown water, allowing for safe discharge to drain or recovery systems in line with statutory requirements.
We supply and install blowdown vessels as part of new boilerhouse projects or upgrades to existing systems. Each unit is designed to meet the operating pressure and discharge volume of your boiler setup, ensuring safe containment and controlled release of flash steam and hot water.

BUILT FOR SAFE, COMPLIANT OPERATION
We engineer blowdown receivers to meet stringent safety standards and site-specific requirements, ensuring safe handling of blowdown discharge and reliable long-term operation.
- PED- and BG03-compliant design for full regulatory assurance
- Correctly sized vent connections, inlets and outlets to manage flash steam and thermal discharge safely
- Pressure-tested construction tailored to each site's duty cycle and blowdown frequency
- Integrated cooling water connections to help control temperature before discharge
- Optional temperature and pressure sensors for continuous monitoring
- Isolation valves and sample points to support routine maintenance and inspection protocols

WHAT IS A BLOWDOWN RECEIVER?
A blowdown receiver or vessel is a boiler plant component designed to handle water at extreme temperatures and pressures. Steam boilers suffer from the build-up of suspended and dissolved solids as a natural consequence of superheating water. The contaminated water is forced out of the boiler into the blowdown receiver, removing the solids from the process.
